1. The central idea
Prime numbers are abstract generator identities. A composite number is a recipe made by multiplying primes. The same prime can have a different explicit meaning in different registries: world physics, organism construction, or cognition. It never has one universal meaning.
The project deliberately adds computational capabilities, not instructions such as "avoid fire" or "seek food." Behaviors should arise from generated graphs interacting with the world.
2. World number and founder genome
World Number decides which world generators the server enables. The current chemistry recipe is 85470 = 2 x 3 x 5 x 7 x 11 x 37.
Founder Genome is the starting prime recipe for the first organisms. Their descendants inherit it unless arithmetic mutation changes a factor. A genome creates a generated brain graph; the graph is not manually rewritten.
| Prime | World meaning | Organism meaning |
| 2 | Movement physics | Locomotion |
| 3 | Energy accounting | Metabolism |
| 5 | Food resources | Digestion |
| 7 | Reproduction rules | Reproduction |
| 11 | Terrain | Terrain sensing |
| 13 | Persistent world history, later use | Persistent internal state |
| 17 | Spatial data available in the world | Raw 3 x 3 neighborhood awareness |
| 19 | Shared signal field | Signal In and Signal Out |
| 31 | Structural coupling conditions | Bind output and one-hop neighbor-state access |
| 37 | Resource transformation chemistry | No direct organism capability yet |
3. How a server tick works
- Fire, chemistry, and signal decay update.
- Every living organism samples direct bonded neighbors' prior Prime-13 values, executes its generated graph, pays maintenance, may move, signal, and consume food. Prime-17 organisms compare generated North, East, South, and West scores before moving.
- Strong closed facets can redistribute part of a meal to weaker members.
- Eligible organisms reproduce; each child may receive one arithmetic mutation.
- Bonds, deaths, markers, and food regrowth update.
- The server sends a snapshot to this UI.
4. Food and chemistry
A food tile is one discrete edible unit. Phase 13 assigns every food tile a green, blue, or red resource identity. Green return depends most on Prime 5 digestion strength, blue on Prime 3 energy strength, and red on Prime 19 signal strength. The organism standing on it receives energy when its generated Consume output is active; these are metabolic returns, not preset organism roles.
Harvesting also reduces local fertility. Fertility recovers slowly in undisturbed tiles and scales food regrowth, so heavy feeding can exhaust a region while other regions recover. Prime 37 continues the material cycle: food can decay into detritus; dead organisms leave detritus; fire turns food into ash; detritus and ash become nutrients; nutrients are drawn down when they support local food regrowth.
Population is regulated by a soft carrying capacity, not a hard cap. The server calculates a reproductive opportunity from food per organism and usable walkable habitat. Even an energy-rich organism reproduces only when its generated graph permits it and the current ecology offers an opportunity. In ideal conditions that chance is capped at 35%; it falls toward zero as the world becomes crowded or food-poor. The live Ecology note shows both the current opportunity and soft capacity.
5. Signals and spatial awareness
Prime 17 supplies raw nearby tile values. It does not mean "avoid fire" or "find food." When combined with Prime 2 movement, its cardinal inputs feed generated North, East, South, and West action outputs. The server selects the strongest legal output; ties preserve the current heading rather than adding a hidden random rule. Organisms without Prime 17 retain the random movement fallback because they have no directional information.
Prime 19 lets an organism read and write one anonymous shared field. The field has no built-in vocabulary: a signal can acquire meaning only through generated graph connections and survival consequences.
Signals require a meaningful graph output, decay quickly, and have an energy cost. The UI only renders stronger concentrations as purple so low-level signal noise does not cover the world.
6. Bonds, compounds, and facets
Prime 31 gives a generated Bind output. Nearby organisms with sufficient bind activity can form bonds after sustained contact. Each bond has a small reserve of structural energy. When a bonded member eats, it allocates a small portion of that meal to its attached bonds; reserves pay bond maintenance and allow structural strength to repair. An unfed active bond loses strength and eventually breaks with an explicit starvation reason. Linked groups move collectively.
Structural inheritance: a bonded Prime-31 parent that reproduces locally buds its child into an adjacent open tile. If the child retains Prime 31, the parent pays a small energy investment into a weak bond seed. It must remain adjacent for several ticks before maturing; a child that loses Prime 31 through arithmetic mutation is born unbonded. This reproduces topology without making any bond immortal.
A complete loop of three bonds is an emergent triangular facet. Strong facets have a limited shared metabolism: when one member eats, it keeps most energy, feeds its attached bonds, and then passes a bond-strength-scaled portion to weaker members. This is a world-level structural consequence, not a hard-coded cooperation behavior.
Phase 14 distributed state: Prime-13 organisms expose their prior persistent value across each direct Prime-31 bond. Recipients receive an anonymous mean in their generated Neighbor state sensor. The value does not decay, carry a label, or travel beyond one hop in the same tick. A larger bonded cluster can therefore hold more state than any one member.
Collective navigation: each bonded member produces numeric North, East, South, and West graph scores from its own local metabolic opportunity. The structure averages those values and moves in the strongest legal direction, keeping its heading on ties. Scores are shared; no organism sends another an action or receives a built-in food-seeking command.
Facet capital: when a strong closed facet actually consumes a resource, it can recover a small additional fraction as capital owned by that exact three-member topology. Capital never enters an individual body or an ordinary bond reserve. Once enough has accumulated, a Prime-31 child born beside two members receives two inherited bond seeds, extending the facet. A child that mutates away Prime 31 receives no facet capital. Brighter triangular fills hold more capital.
Structural homeostasis: world-level primary productivity creates new resource units only when fertility permits regrowth. The live productivity line reports this potential energy input. A low-energy bonded member may receive a small transfer from an attached bond reserve, but every transfer reduces the reserve and loses energy in transit; bonds never create energy.
7. What the colors and shapes mean
Orange circle Living organism. A brighter body has more energy.
Green asterisk Green resource, most rewarding to stronger Prime-5 digestion.
Blue asterisk Blue resource, most rewarding to stronger Prime-3 energy expression.
Red asterisk Red resource, most rewarding to stronger Prime-19 signal expression.
White square Wall or terrain.
Purple tile or aura Strong shared signal field or active Prime-19 output.
Amber tint Nutrients available for local regrowth.
Brown tint Detritus from decay or organism remains.
Gray tint Ash from burned food.
Brown ground tint Locally exhausted fertility. It fades as the tile recovers.
Amber heat squares Facet-work trail. It accumulates each tick a strong closed facet occupies that cell; bright inner squares identify repeatedly used structural sites and corridors since the last reset.
Blue-purple heat Environmental memory. A neutral scalar from 0 to 1; only Prime-43 organisms can read it and only Prime-41 organisms can write it. It does not mean food, danger, home, or a trail.
Gold-green ring A resource was just created by world-level primary productivity.
Gold links Structural bonds. Thicker and brighter means stronger.
Gold triangle Closed three-member facet.
Three-dot cyan/gold gate A collective-work gate. Cyan means observe: nearby members receive distinct signal fragments. Gold means respond: an intact Prime-13/19/31 facet must hold a shared state long enough to activate its work field. A green aura and three green port rings around the working facet mean that ordinary food is being produced at those occupied ports. Production stops if that exact facet leaves or dissolves, and fades without renewed consensus.
Mint pulse Facet energy transfer.
Inner ring Prime 13 persistence.
Green marks Prime 17 spatial awareness.
Gold rings Strengthened prime powers in the genome.
8. Controls and experiments
Pause, Resume, Single Step, Reset control the server simulation. Reset rebuilds the world from the current seed and settings. Universe Seed makes a run repeatable. Changing the World Number regenerates world configuration; changing the Founder Genome resets the initial lineage.
The Ecology Lab controls food capacity, food growth, mutation chance, signal cost, and fire. Reproduction is also environmentally limited: scarce food and crowded walkable space lower birth opportunity without imposing a hard organism cap. Use fixed seeds and change one variable at a time when comparing experiments. The Bond Lifecycle panel stores only the newest 1,000 events in memory, so this project does not consume disk space for telemetry.
Evolution Lab: runs the preregistered baseline-versus-delayed-refinery comparison over matched deterministic seeds. A refinery conversion needs a strong Prime-31 triangle to remain near detritus or ash for twelve ticks; it releases ordinary food and nutrients, never direct organism energy. The lab stores only aggregate outcomes and periodic samples in a capped server file. These screens are evidence-gathering tools, not a mechanism that changes the live world.
